I bought the new HED integrated aero bars last year, and was one of the first to get the carbon arm rests… THEY SUCK!! They are structurally weak and I have to hold myself in them, instead of them holding me in. The outer edge rolls down, and it wouldn’t be difficult to roll off of them.
Does anybody have a good fix for this?
The arm rests from my Profile Split Second bars will work, but I’m not real happy with how they attach.
you could ask HED for a set of the original aluminum cups (which I use and work just fine). I also got a new set of pads from HED and the plastic biek computer/HRM spacer for the crossbar - which also works great.
I got a pair of the new Oval carbon armrests, they are sort of rectangular and super stiff, not thin and flexy like the Heds. They have four sets of bolt holes for a wide range of adjustment. They also have, I think, 3 choices of noeprene thickness for the armpads. i got the 10 mm thickness and its super, like the old CeeGee pads that are super comfortable. Contact the Oval rep ( in Arizona) off the web address and see if he has any … or contact your LBS and have them call oval and chack availabilty. They also have the heavier aluminum pads as well, but the carbon ones look great and once they are mounted are really stiff, especially in comparison to the original Hed armrests.
you probably have defective arm rests. My lbs got a couple of these last year. Maybe the fiber layup was wrong, or it’s delaminating internally but they shouldn’t fold over like that. I have the stock aluminum cups and those are great, but also the new carbon cups on my Cliplights and they are ultra stiff. Call head or PM andyt on this forum, maybe he can shed some light.
