Ride a 1999 QR Kilo (round tubes), carbonaero fork and H3s.
As a general rule, how much time would I shave off by having a Renn disc in the back and H3 up front for an IM? And for an Oly?
Of course plan on improving my training by being smarter. And am also going to get my weight down. The past 5 years have weighed around 183 during race season. Am going to get down to 173-175 (about were I was at age 25, 20 years ago).
thanks
PS. OLN is showing IM Wisconsin and an ITU race today on TV.
I can’t remember the source, but it seems to me that the advantage of a disc over trispoke or deep dish rear was round 8-12 seconds over 40 kms. The disc is fastest but as the deep dish or tri spoke rear are also quite fast wheels, the advantage isn’t near as much as against regular 32 spoke wheels.
Hed also publishes their aero data so you can see the drag differences between a disc and tri spoke. Unfortunately I don’t know how to translate into actual speed.
If everybody here on slowtwitch was as concerned about how to improve time by buying stuff, than actually improve their training I think several ppl on this board, including myself, would be a lot faster I mean I like buying stuff, especially wheels, but when It comes down to it the, biggest timeshaver will always be how fit you are on raceday…
