tougher than I thought…I have used rubbing alcohol, cooking oil (canola)…
Any proven tricks to easily remove the sticker and the residual glue without hurting the carbon weave?
My Renn sticker peeled right off and what little residue was left came off with Goo Gone (or something like that???). I bought it at the local grocery store.
I have used goof off or something before on wood floors…was very “harsh” I thought…
I don’t want to compromise the wheel…It’s a 2005 wheel hence the stickers are “stuck”.
I’ve done this before too.
use a hair dryer to heat the decals a bit before you peal them off. Rubbing alcohol probably will not cut it, i used paint thinner on a rag and some chain degreaser.
dido on the blow dryer. Easy and quick.
anyone else use goo gone? seems to be “fairly” friendly on things…I think Home Depot carries also.
I thought goof off and goo gone were basically the same stuff.
Goo Gone worked great for me, also works very well for removing the glue that is left on the rim of a tubular tire glue, got it at Walmart.
I’d be pretty nervous about screwing up the wheel. Why don’tyou have Tai do some killer stickers to cover up what you don’t like?
I am trying…but he hasn’t responded to 3 pm’s and 3 emails…customer service is where it’s at…I am not sure Honda could stay in business with a quality product and poor customer service…
I’m with you there! I had a local guy do some for my disk, and they came out GREAT, and he even put them on while I waited. Very inexpensive, something like $10 for 4 for wheels, and 2 for my helmet. Almost anyone can design something nowdays, and just e-mail the graphic file to the vendor.
Yea…I have a design (a buddy did for me)…I need a little tweaking of it…but, I can’t work my photoshop
so I must use what I have…
Well, I removed 12 stickers and some lettering in about 1.5hrs today…
BLOW DRYER gets 85% of it…i.e. heat it, peal it…GOO GONE is great…not to harsh and nice citrus smell…
So, there you go.
Hey Gammy, I just emailed you again and sent you a PM. Think for some reason you’re not getting my emails or something. Anyways, sent you a mock up from two different email accounts so you should get at least one of them I hope. If not, shoot me another PM and we’ll figure this out somewhere. I have five or six other STr’s that contacted me this week that I hope to get to today as well.
On the disk, yeah hair dryer or a heat gun and if you’ve already got them off, soak the gunk in goo gone/citrus degreaser (not simple green, not strong enough), let it sit 10 minutes then using a rag with goo gone on it scrub it off. Final whipe with rubbing alcohol.
I am not receiving your emails…checked bulk and everything…sent u a pm ![]()
.
Tai, I also sent you an email about a couple of Hed decals for my disc and haven’t heard back from you. Can you email me or PM me as I’d like to get this going? Thanks.
Hey Fred, email sent with samples, sorry for the wait
.
Tai, sent you a few pm’s over the weekend…haven’t heard anything back.
Please review the pm’s and ask me any questions you may have(via PM since your emails to me are not making it to @yahoo…which is peculiar).
I have a 1-800 number if you’d like to call me and wrap this thing up.
Do not use Goo Gone or Goo Off on any carbon or plastic parts. It will cause a mess and might degrade the structure of the carbon. Paint thinner too.
Zipp recommends that you use Goo-Gone or something akin to that in order to remove stickers from their rims…It, nor paint thinner (Which is MUCH worse) will do exactly jack squat to the structure of the carbon.

I am just speaking from experience.
