I took the crank off my commuter bike with the intent of replacing the chainrings. There’s no bolt holes on the outside face, and on the inside there are 5 circular fasteners. They have holes but aren’t notched or shaped for a hex wrench or anything. Are these things rivets or something? The chainrings are definitely separate pieces from the crank/spider, so I would be surprised if there was no way to take them off…
These pictures might help explain what I’ve got:

Is that crank pressed, die cut steel? If so, they’re probably rivets and it’s just meant to be trashed and replaced.
Regardless, they don’t look that worn. Just ride it another billion miles and then buy a new bike.
The crank feels pretty cheap, so I guess it must be a total replacement part. That’s a shame, I was hoping to take the old rings and make a wall clock out of them…
