Removing Decals from Carbon Wheel

Hey guys- I just got my Specialized trispoke in the mail (a great deal through ST classifieds from ST member “thelunchbox”). It’s in great condition but I would like to remove the decals and there is also a bit of reside left from what I’m assuming is a magnet. What’ the best way to get this stuff off without messig up the clear coat?

Thanks.

Goo Gone. I used it to remove a couple of stickers on my carbon rims (Reynolds), didn’t mess up the clear coat. It’s citrus based I think.

Still it wasn’t easy though, takes a little bit of time for the stuff to turn the stickie stuff into Goo you can remove.

Ok, Thanks.

Any other suggestions?

Goo gone wasn’t very helpful and is also a PITA to clean off the excess. A clean towel and some elbow grease works best.

Hot hair blow drier. Kind of melts the stickers and gets them ready to peel off. Took some stickers from a disc off. No chemicals or water or anything needed.

it’s it’s dried glue from gluing the magnet, a razor blade works nicely.

WD40. Works really well to get gooey residue off stuff. In fact, I haven’t tried anything else because it works so well.

+1 on the blow dryer - i’d keep stuff like wd40 a long way away from wheels with braking surfaces etc. blow dryer on hot, peel & heat as you go, easy as pie.

Googone and a razor blade. I took off my Zipp decals that way.

+2 on the blow dryer…worked great for me on HED wheels.

I took HED Alps and Blackwell disc decals off with fingernails only
No googone wd40 or hot blow dryer
