I’m with you. Democrates don’t care about the deficit unless Repubs are trying to lower taxes. Repubs don’t care unless Dems want to increase spending. I’ve decided the real problem is the Baby Boomers who passed on the spending and social programs without funding them.

Neither side is committed to controlling spending. They want to spend it on different things, that’s the only difference. It’s hard to buy influence and stay in office by cutting things. Every representative and senator wants to bring home the pork. My congressman brags about saving the Littoral combat ship program, a ship that is performing poorly and that the Navy doesn’t even want more of, but it’s built here and that means jobs and votes. My guess is that you could tell that story 434 more times, more or less.

I know it isn’t directly at me, but I’ll take a shot. The disingenuous part is two-fold. First, he literally contradicts himself with only two sentences. Were there fiscal conservatives at some point or was it always bogus? Can’t have it both ways. Second, assuming I think I know what he means, he is saying one of the basic tenants of the Republican platform has been a lie for at least as long as I have been able to vote.

let me help you. america is (already) great, even as it remains a work in progress, it is founded on an near-perfect framework of principles and processes, with the built-in, anticipated capacity to continually make it a “more perfect union”.
for that reason, the 1st amendment protects the right to, petition the government for a redress of grievances. what these 4 women - whose politics i generally find problematic - are doing is exactly that; and they care enough to do what you and i aren’t willing to do: run for office.

I’m certainly happy to see a political stalwart admitting something like this, but let’s not pretend he hasn’t preached fiscal conservatism throughout the years. It’s pretty much the definition of disingenuous when you admit you were lying all along.

I used to listen to Rush quite a bit. Now I may be remembering this wrong, but I thought one of the reasons he would suggest that you never vote for a Democrat is because they are not fiscally responsible.
If he’s now admitting that the Republicans never were either, then I think at least on this point, he is admitting that he has always been full of shit.
