It does make sense… apparently (from reading his online journal). He’s had a very productive winter with a lot of training and camps in AZ… And not his typical winter hibernation.
That would be good for IMAZ too. With Bentley opting for Oz, it will bring a bit of a higher profile to the race. (no disrespect to some of the very talented pros on that list… Al-Sultan, Sergio, Joanna Z, Lovato, Harju, etc)
Ummm, isn’t he also good buddies with Roch Frey? Isn’t Roch one of the RD’s with Huddle? A friend in need (poor press lately about the race, i.e. swim course and bike course) is a friend indeed, methinks.

Many pros withdrawing…early season race…seems like a good chance to earn a paycheck and put another notch on his belt.

Likely an exaggeration on my part. Nothing to back it up. Perhaps I was reading too much into Bentley dropping out because of the course etc. I cannot off the top of my head think of who else may have changed their plans. Somewhere I thought I read that you were going to do it but decided to change your race plans to IM Brazil.
