Hi ST’ers -
I’m planning on signing up for the 2008 IM Florida but was wondering how easy it is to get into the race if registering online. I live in the UK and would normally register for international races online, but I am super keen to get in so I’m considering flying over to Florida for the weekend to register…is it worth it?
Any help or experiences that you’ve had would be gratefully received. Thank you.
last year i started hitting f5 at around 1:58 est. I had 8 browsers going at once, and active.com crashed at least 50 times in the process. each page took between 4-5 mins to load, and i ended up with multiple “ironman id’s.” I finished registering in 32 minutes (which would normally take me around 2.5), and i heard it was full in just over 40. good luck, be prepared.

Right there is your problem.
Do not fly over, unless you just want to watch. If you miss out
registering online, you can grab a community fund spot for no more than
you would pay for flight and lodging.
