so out in my mailbox today i received a refund check for my “withdrawal” from ironman canada. since i never withdrew i checked the athlete database, nope not there. check the withdrawal procedure and apparetly all you need is a name, dob and address, and this can all be submitted online. so at this point it all becomes clear. my evil ex has done this. so i call up the IMC office and tell them what has happened. the nice lady there says that this is not all that uncommon(really?) and that it has happened in the past usualy the result of a divorce or similar slighting. awesome.
so the long story short is that it worked out, and thats why im telling you guys bc id probably be looking for a spot to bury the body right now if it hadn’t. i confronted her and she played dumb but i said they log IP addresses and she was busted. she said she did it because she was hurt and bitter-i countered with “psycho” and totally deleted her from my facebook…
so if youre worried about that one dude in your AG thats going to take the last kona slot, just withdraw him from the race, apparently its that easy.
Sorry to laugh at your expense, I just find that pitifully sad and funny.
Glad to hear that you got into the event.
I laughed at that as well. You showed up. Deletion from Facebook is like the same thing as shunning someone + restraining order + never having contact with them again + embarrassing them.
When I withdrew from IMWI a couple years ago, I’m pretty sure I got a confirmation email, saying if you didn’t withdraw or whatever contact us ASAP - you didn’t get this mail?

no email, although the email and phone field are required, she put in my email address with one character off, same with the cell. i asked and they said that all you really need is the name and event. i dont get to keep the refund. the facebook comment was meant to be funny, albeit true, and is best imagined to be spoken by a 15 yr old valley girl…
that shallow grave comment is epic…
Now you can use this experience to your benefit while training.
Just think of your evil X while pushing it hard. Kind of Jens Voight style…out in front…all alone…
turning the cranks over in rage.
(worked for me during a bad break up)
Cheers,
K.

Depending how bold you are, I would consider reporting this to the police as identity theft.
Clearly she felt that triathlon was the other woman and she is getting revenge on the other woman. You need to quickly replace her with a “real” other woman so that she can take it out on the real other woman, rather than triathlon.
