Recovering from embarassing surgery?

Okay, I have a “friend” who had to have surgery to get rid of something that rhymes with asteroid. Now, this “friend’s” doctor told him it would be three weeks before he gets back on the bike or can run.

Have any of you had a “friend” go through the same thing with the same amount of recovery? I’m thinking this because a lot of times docs will give you the recovery times for a sofa-living, overweight lazy-ass person…in other words the typical American  My “friend” coincindently is training for IMLOO like me and hates all the down time. Any thoughts? And oh yeah, this has nothing to do with me missing out on the Macom RocknRollman last Sunday.

basteroid?
casteroid?
dasteroid?
easteroid?

ok, i’m stumped.

mulva?

Okay, only the last part rhymes
.

Your friend had an android removed, didn’t he? hm? hmmmm?

I would assume your friend’s body would tell him when it was cool to get on a bike again. As for running, probably sooner, but no too soon, as he wouldn’t want any added pressure down there

hemorrhoid?

wouldn’t have thought your “friend” would want to go anywhere near a bike saddle for a while…

Doloris!

I’m…I mean he’s just wondering if he needs to go by “feel” or wait the full three weeks.

After I had my android removed, I definitely went by feel.

“something that rhymes with asteroid”

Say it - hemroid (hemorrhoid). What’s the shame? Now was that so hard.

I think this deserves a nomination for the Slowtwitch stupid post of the year awards. Seriously you are on an anonymous internet forum posting about a “friend” and you won’t use the word hemorrhiod

I think you’re jumping to conclusions. I’m a professional in the field of robot insurance sales, and i can tell you android removal is one of the fastest growing medical/technology fields. These days, everyone is having it done.

I would guess it depends on how involved the surgery was. I went through something of the sort 17-18 years ago. Mine was lanced in the doctor’s office, thought. I had one of my favorite races (old oxnard Bud light race) coming up in about a week. As a college student at the time, there was no way I was writing off the entry fee, so asked my doctor and he had me sit in the bathtub and soak for 6-8 hours per day. Nothing like sitting in a house without air conditioning, in a small bathroom, in hot water and in JULY!

It did work, though. By the day before the race, it had improved greatly improved, although it was still very uncomfortable. Did the race with no ill effects, other than a great story to tell! How many other athletes would endure such suffering for their sport :-). Anyway, tell your friend good luck with his problem, but I would ask the doctor for a best case scenario and go for it when it feels right.

Chill out guy, I’m just trying to have a little fun with a very painful situation. But, to make you happy…yes it’s HEMORROID! Happy? And I think it’s pretty obvious the whole “friend” thing was tongue in cheek.

Do a forum search of “BottomFeeder” and “hamster” and you should be able to find some answers.

No idea…ask your doctor why the 3 weeks, what are the risks etc? then you can make a more informed decision about whether feel is ok. I doubt you want to break a stitch or something (do they do stitches down there?). I guess you need to keep the HR and blood pressure down. I’d probably be most worried about bowel movements though…

Note: please read “he” instead of “you”

“I would guess it depends on how involved the surgery was.”

Unfortunately, this was the whole knock-you-out-cold surgery and apply stiches thing. Way to be devoted to your sport though. When I asked if I’d be able to do a half IM the next weekend, the doc gave me that you-don’t-know-what-you’re-in-for grin and shook his head.

Ebarrassed and Anal…scratch that uptight…nice
.

really?? I must ahve missed that. How do I find out if I have android and if I do can you remove? I have been looking for a quick way to loose an extra 10 pounds will this do it?

I’d be embarrassed too if I had an asteroid up my butt.
