Recommendations on cheap (<$50) cycling shoes

Looking for people that have used a cheap cycling shoes and how they held up and such. I have my tri shoes, but I would rather not wear them out for bike races and general training.

Only looking for advice from folks that road them or there friends. I have seen many online.

TIA

Check Sierratradingpost.com. In the bicycling section, they have a many good shoes at rerduced prices…Let us know waht you find

Yes, I am aware of locations to find them. As I typed in my previous post, I am looking for comments from folks that have used the cheap stuff.

I have specialized comp shoes. bought on sale (last years model), and it was still a more than $50. However, I think they’re great. I had the mtb shoes originally, and they fit me perfect (narrow heel) so I when back to them. I originally bought some more expensive carnacs that were about $150 and they sucked for fit. i have a narrow heal, but wider forefoot I guess. Those things were too tight in the toes.

Downside to buying shoes this cheap is that they’re going to be velcro. I can slightly feel and DEFINATELY hear (squeeks) the flex in the shoes. That’s lost energy that when you’re hurting you’ll be pissed off at it.

Burns

Ya, my tri shoes are velcro :frowning: One strap is what seems to bother me on the long hard days of climbing.

If you have a Pearl Izumi Outlet Store in your area you can pick up last years Tri Model for $45. I picked some up at the Atlanta Store this past weekend.

How do you like them. I have one about an hour away :frowning: But I drive by it on the way to races.

my first clipless were from Nashbar. they fit and rode just fine. i put a lot of miles on them in michigan weather. two velcro straps. i still have them as backups.

i thought i saw some on there not long ago which appeared similar to what i got 10 years ago. new price was in the $30-40 range…a few bucks less than my originals.
