my nike vapor streak flats are getting to small and i need to get a new pair. i want something pretty lightweight, but a lasting shoe (i.e., no mayfly). thanks for your recommendations in advance.
I’ve always liked the Japanese shoes…asics & Mizuno both make nice flats. asics makes neutral ones (Piranha, Hyperspeed) as well as the DS-Racer/Ohana which have dual density EVA in either the midsole or heel if you need just a bit of stability. I’ve had very good luck with the DS-Racer V. Mizuno has the Wave Revolver and the Wave Idaten. I haven’t worn those models but I have two pair of the old Mizuno Phantoms that are really nice.

At rroof’s recommendation, i got some Saucony type A. The outsole has a lot of bounce, but the insole is a little ‘squishy’ for me. with some firmer insoles they are very nice, and they only weigh ~1/4 oz more than my Asics gel Magic racers, which feel a little dead, and have since they had only about 50 miles on them.
