Does anyone have any recommendations for a good wheel builder? I have a rear Corima wheel built on a track hub that I want to have re-built with a Shimano-compatible rear hub.
(And before you tell me to go to my LBS… let’s put it this way… when I mention tubular wheels they look at me and wrinkle their nose and forehead… I don’t live in a hotbed of high-end cycling.)
Best I know is Greg at the Bike Coop in Albuquerque, NM (505-265-5170). He built me a front race wheel (Fir Rim, with a nuke proof hub, aero spokes straight lace) about 7 years ago and have gone down on it twice in some crits and it has never needed to be re-trued. The wheel probably has over 1000 miles on it by now. Awsome. He’s built wheels for Kent Bosick, Bart Bowen, and John Frey, and some other member of the old Subaru Montgmery team.

Any thoughts on Joe Young Wheels in Fredericksburg, Texas, or Wheelsmith?
