I just went to a 650C wheel and am looking for recommendations on good training tires (clincher).
If anyone could share what they’re have good experience with that would be great. I don’t need to the best (or most expensive) just a good solid tire I can use for training.
I have found Continental 650’s to be a pain to get on and off the wheel. I have not (yet) flatted in a race, but have in training. Vittoria and Michelins, for me anyway, are easier to get on and off. I train on Vittoria Rubino Pro and race on Michelin Pro 2 or 3 (whatever model is on sale). Perhaps the issue is with me and I am a tire-changing dork . . .
Don’t know if you are still looking for tires but I have a pair of BNIB Continental Grand Prix 650x23c clinchers that I would be willing to part with for 75$ for the pair just shoot me a PM These are extra tires that I had bought for my softride but I finally went with a cervelo with 700 wheels now and have no use for them anymore.
I have ridden Conti’s for the past ten years and found them the most durable training tires out there, you definately need levers to get them on and off your rim but it is worth the tight fit for the stability and confidence when riding. Before the Conti’s I used to ride Vittoria and those rode well but were not as durable.
