Could anyone recommend a good rear disc wheel for those of us in the 200 pound range?
Something that is obviously aero but not too flexi and will stand up to some rough roads.
Many thanks.
RENN. I am 190. I use the Renn Kaiser . I dont notice any flex at all…
i’ve ridden the renn 575 @ 220 for 3 seasons with no problems
.
cervelott,
I’ve used a Renn 575 for a number of years now and I usually am in the 195-205 range.
I know, this isn’t what you wanted to hear. You wanted to have use tell you we were riding Zipps at 245 lbs or Heds. More bling, you know.
If you really have the kahunas, get a Campy Ghibili. Purchasing it will even help lighten $$$$ you. Then you really will have BLING! More than almost anyone else!
I know a couple of guys riding the Zipp at 200lb no problem. That being said if it’s durability you’re after get the Renn, the Zipp is lighter and stiffer but probably won’t take a hard pothole that well. That being said my Zipp has seen a hell of a lot of use and abuse and is holding up like a champ. I’m only 160lb though…
Zipp, HED, Renn or Mavic. Take your pick.
FWIW I rode a HED superlight for IMNZ (rough roads down these ways) this year, I weighed in at 210lbs and had no issues. No stand up and sprint efforts though.
