Rear Areo wheel vs Disc wheel

Is there much added benefit to upgrading to a disc wheel from a rear areo wheel?

There are many average cyclist out there that want to get faster but focus on the gear rather that the hard work.

Is there a athletic level or average speed that would warrant the upgrade?

I currently have a Zipp 404 rear and average 22-23 mph in most olys. 21-22 in half-im’s.

If my training continues to improve would I also benefit from the addtion of a Renn Disc?

Thanks

I’m a big believer in rear disks. I think it is the fastest wheel and what I use almost all the time. That’s my unscientific .02.

Cobb and Martin co-authored a chapterin the book “High Performance Cycling”. They claim that a disc is about fourteen seconds faster over 40 kms than a good aero wheel.

It is faster but not as dramatic as many believe.

It’s all in how YOU can justify the expense. It has nothing to do with speed or ability. If you’re worried about what other people are thinking, then that’s a self-image issue, not a performance issue.

Thanks for the info.

I have just been told by local shops that unless you ride 28+ mph a disc wheel will not give much benefit.

Thanks again
