I read Will’s article yesterday. As I said before, he is one of my favorite columnists. But that story was really disappointing and realclimate did a good job. I asked in another thread what would happen if someone like Will was held to the same standards as scientists. With his writing on this topic, it makes me nervous how much I should trust him on other topics.
Another example that could have been given is the weekly and monthly projections of jobless filings and economic growth. Those figures are regularly revised months after originally being posted. It’s part of the process. Heck, we didn’t have official declaration of our recession until more than a year had passed. I’m not sure why he couldn’t understand that concept in relation to science.
