So the hub cracked on my Zipp 808 and it got sent to Zipp for a repair. The shop took off the tire before they shipped it. I want to re-glue the same tire as it is basically brand new. I originally went with 3 coats of glue on the rim and 2 coats on the tire. Do you think I need to strip all the old glue off the rim and start over or would you go with a fresh coat of glue on the rim and tire and mount?
Depends how rough it is. If it’s smooth just add more coats. If it’s rough you might try to scrape off some, but I find it’s all or nothing most of the time. All in all, nothing beats a 1st round glue job done right.
Just scrap off any clumps other than that one coat on each will work just fine. Be sure to seat the tire really well. Then Let it sit overnight. You will be there for hours trying to take off all the glue.
