Raw Taint

My butt is very used to the saddle muscle wise.

but after an hour or so… friction seems to take its toil in the “taint/southern beanbag area”

It starts to burn a little bit and I constantly have to shift position.

Skin surface problem (regardless of bike shorts or tri shorts with different amounts of padding)

Anyone use talcum powder or such b4 hitting the road.

Sorry to be gross, just looking for some relief.

Fizik arione saddle is great otherwise.

apply bodyglide liberally to affected area.

Use chamois butt’r… or some other kind of lube…

Also, if you “search posts”… there are wonderful tips on shaving the taint and the frozen figs…

will do!

Thanks for the advice.

“Set them free”

Always wear clean shorts and change after as soon as possible. body glide your skin and chammy cream on the shorts. Also check your saddle isn’t a little high. One time, mine was less than a quarter inch higher than normal and after an hour it felt like I was sitting on a block of wood.

A neoprene saddle cover on my Arione works wonders.

Assos Chamois Cream!! Nothing beats it.

Assos Chamios cream. I have tried a few others and prefer the Assos. Buy one type and try it out.

The other thing I have done this year since I seriously upped my mileage is to use two different kinds of shorts. Different chamois creates different spots where they is going to be a problem. I am riding 6 days a week and this seems to help.

Put the cream on your shorts like you would butter your toast for your young child.

Cover affected area liberally with mayonaise. Under a ceiling fan running on ‘high’, lay on your back with your legs extended towards the ceiling but open in a “V”. Pour iced Creme de Menthe on the beanbag and enjoy. Rinse and repeat.

Don’t treat the symptoms when you should be finding the cause. I’d bet your saddle is too high.

Why does that leave some very, very disturbing images in my head?

As for your problem, I kind of experience a similar thing. Well, I have some sore areas when I ride, and I only have a single pair of tri shorts and a single pair of cycling shorts. I need some more shorts to see if it is a problem with my shorts, my saddle, or just my ass.

Chamois cream is good, but fairly pricey. If you are on a budget, like me, A&D diaper rash ointment works very good. I use it all the time and liberally. It is pretty innexpensive, and any grocery/drug store will have it.

vaseline is a really cheap alternative to chamois cream.

What jhendric said. Saddle too high.

To add to the above…

Chamois Butter or Assos. However, I apply it direct to the area. Saves on lube and appears to work better (for me).

Also…pull those cycling short up to give you nice camel toe. The shorts will “seat” better in your region. The goal is to have constant contact rather than materials rubbing…

I have been experiencing the same problem lately. Would changing bike position from a rode bike to a steep triathlon bike cause this?

Matt

Road or Tri? I was having the same problem as I rode an arione on both bikes. I took the arione off of the tri bike and put on the azoto. Problem solved immediately.

I believe that the arione is the most fantastic thing to happen to a road bike but that it is no good for your sandbar on a tri bike.
