Holy hell, it’s absolute madness. Estimates of 2 million people along the parade route and the parade is over two hours late getting to the square for the stage/speeches.
So glad my wife is working from home today. Ain’t nobody getting home on time.
I think that we need some parade practice. This is not how it’s done.

The actually stopped the parade at one point because people were climbing on the arches at Nathan Phillips Square and they wouldn’t get down. They stopped the parade and said basically: “Don’t ruin it for everyone, the players aren’t coming here unless you get down”.
Fucking idiots eventually got down.

I was 15 and knew people who claimed to be there either in ‘87 or ‘86 (there were riots both years). I did have friends who were at Peachfest in ‘91. I was never cool enough to get invited to those kind of parties.

I wonder if that was a last minute plan to keep the crowd calm? The parade was delayed how many hours? Call in the Snow Birds to keep them all from tearing the city apart.
I do think it was very impressive how they managed to keep the crowd calm when the shooting happened. That so easily could have turned into a tragic stampede.
