Random Intel on A.G's at IMMoo

Some observations:
Of the top five athletes in M45-49 from 2006- none are returning to race in '07. Curious. Spread from 1st to 2nd in the M45-49 was over *20 minutes. *The winner of the age category broke *10 hours. *Next M45-49 finisher nearly 30 minutes later… An odd incidence of pilots in the M45-49 category. A high incidence (relatively) of Mexican athletes in M45-49.

Could it be that some of those top five will be in Kona? Kona spots qualify you for the following year.

Absolutely. Good point.

It doesn’t make scouting the competition very easy.

My age group too - I looked several years back and most of the top 6-7 in 45-49 are not returning in '07. Very interesting indeed!

I have my fingers crossed for warmth on race day. Cold and rain is my nightmare!

I’m watching strategic weather trends in the area. Be prepared for cool/wet conditions…

You have to think that with the weather history for IMMoo that mother nature would chill out a bit (no pun inteded) for at least one year.

They don’t believe in Reversion to the Mean in Wisconsin

Maybe they all aged up.

I noticed the high number of Mexican Athletes, didn’t notice the pilots. Perhaps its the Mexican Air Force invading.

“I noticed the high number of Mexican Athletes”

Luis Alvarez often organizes a large group of Mexican triathletes to compete at an IM. He brought 100 Mexican triathletes to IMC in 2004. My guess is that is what is going on at IMMoo this year.

Haim

That is exactly correct. Approx 14% of the original participant list for IMOO '07 is from Mexico. 347 entrants.

I posted a thread about this last fall. If I was smart enough to paste it I would. Search “Mexico and IMOO” for more details.
