Radian’s (formerly ChainLift) new tire pump - Zilch

Might not give my Silca SuperPista a true run for its money but I love the concept. Obviously, doesn’t seem like it would work for many/most disc wheels.

I also applaud this design. Bought the Chainlift tool a few years ago, it’s a solid tool and the company seems to have great customer support. Amazed it’s taken so long for someone to innovate a less awkward pump head design.

I’m always impressed by a simple and obvious yet innovative design tweaks.

The Desoto flisuit for example. Brilliant.

It comes with with a Schrader adaptor which I plan to attach to my crack pipe. Should make pumping my disc wheel a smidge easier, but definitely won’t fit in the valve cutout space.

I joined the Kickstarter campaign so I expect to receive soon (August).

I think it will be great for anyone still running tubes, as there will be a lot less stress on the valve area, a significant point of many of my flats over the years.

For those who are curious, their Kickstarter campaign page has details about their process from concept to design to production.

FYI the price per the link above is the same as the non-early bird in the campaign.

Got mine today. Easiest pump to use.

Got mine while out of town but got to put it to use yesterday, Fully agree.

Have yet to try and see if I can get the included Schrader adaptor to work with my crack pipe. Still would require one hand pumping but at least I could bring 1 pump with me to races. As it is, most races I do within an early morning drive from home I use my compressor with an inflator similar to the Park Tool INF-2, before I leave home. Easy peasy with my crack pipe.

How much valve do you need to stick out from the rim for it to get a proper lock?

Cool pump. But it still has a glaring flaw that I wish the industry would pivot away from…

Back in the 80s, pumps with pressure gauges used to brag in their marketing that they could go 160, 180, 200 PSI, etc. But nobody pumps that high anymore. In fact, people probably rarely go above 90.

I wish most mainstream pumps used gauges that max at something like 100 PSI. That way, we would have much larger ranges to see better precision for our desired pressures. That one has like a 1/4” of needle movement from 60 PSI to 70 PSI. That distance should be at least twice that.

That is why I ditched my Silca Pista pump. That is a beautiful tool, but the gauge is mounted at the bottom with a 220 PSI max. It is functionally impossible to get within 5 PSI of your target.

i got the version with the digital guage ! its by far the best pump i have used - actually juet seated two tubeless wheels with it no problem.

also the adapter make using crack pipes for disc wheels super easy

I missed that they had a digital option. That is ultimately the best approach. When I ditched my Pista, I got a Silca SuperPista Digital on sale. It was spendy, but checks all the boxes.

And that reminds me… I need to replace the battery while I am thinking about it…

It takes 2 CR2032 batteries.

BOOM. Thanks. That saved me a trip up from the basement. I love this community.
