I just sold my Zipp 404 clincher’s as I am looking at switching to tubular’s. My question is, would it be better to run a HED 3 or a Corima 4 spoke in the back and say a 404 in the front. I am not interested in a disk. Would this setup be faster than say just running a 404 in thr front and back.
My vote would be for a pair of H3s since you don’t want a disc. A very close second would be H3 rear/Alps front. If you have the $$, go with the H3 Superlight pair or H3 superlight rear/Stinger Carbonlight front due to their lighter weights.
What is the advantage with going with a 3 or 4 spoke in the back. I saw this setup alot in the 1/2 Ironman in Kona. I know if you have a alps or 404 on the front you wont get blown around as much. But is it faster to have a 3 or 4 spoke on the back wheel if you dont have a disk or cant use one in the race?
I think your better off going w/ the H3 in the front and a zipp in the rear. The H3 is a more aerodynamic wheel than the zipp. Put the more aero wheel up front.
All that talk about being blown around is way over blown.
