Racing shoe clips

I notice at a recent race in Austin Tx, the pro level class were racing with these “sandal” looking toe clips. They jump on their bikes without any shoe change time. They were already on their bikes and they just slipped their bare feet in these sandal lookin race shoes and rode…what are these and where can I get them???

Those are Pyro’s …they are in the Trisports.com catalog this month.

Are these finally getting attention and respect? I seem to remember the Germans using these at a recent ITU race. When I first saw them a few years ago, I thought - sounds like a good idea, but when no FOP triathletes use something (Pyros, Camelbacks), I figure who am I to branch out? I’m still skeptical on the Pyros though. Doesn’t seem like you’d get the same efficiency of energy transfer to the pedal as with a locked-in cleat.

Benny Vansteerant the 2000, 2001, 2003, (injured in 2002) and 2004 ITU world duathlon champion uses pyro pedals. Very commonly used in Europe.
