Man, the plan was to race and train all winter outside the U.S., kind of a triathlon “Endless Summer”. So I race in Thailand, Curacao and New Zealand.
Now its over and I’m itching to get outside and race and train around here. There is nothing going on here race wise for months. Then, there are, like, three sprint distance duathlons.
I have no speed. I only have some level of endurance. I couldn’t run a 5:45 mile right now if I tried.
Bummer. Just a rant. Man, I want to go to Switzerland for IM Switzerland. Just a rant.
Aside from the long drive and the fact that I have no run speed- yeah. What is the date? Someone told me recently but I forgot. I am interested though. It sounds like fun.
That’s a good idea. I am the annonuncer at the Dexter-Ann Arbor 1/2 Marathon. Lew Kidder asked me to announce there. At least my voice will get a workout.
March 28, < 2 weeks. Our plan is to leave Friday after work, stopping in Louisville. We’ll get there early Sat. afternoon, pick up packets, expo, etc., dinner at nice Italian place. After the race last year, my sister and I were packed up and on the road by 1 PM AL time, and got home by 2 AM to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for work on Monday.
I’ll tell you one thing, I am definately doing the HFP Maumee Bay race near Toledo. I love that event. It is one of my all time favorite triathlons. HFP does a great job too.
By the way, I wouldn’t ever be running with Cheryl and Eric in the literal sense. Both of them are way, WAY too fast for me.
Maumee Bay is a must do. It is everything that is good about triathlons.
you could just come out to San Diego. Visit a few companies. Speedplay, Reynolds, Spinergy, Oakley, Campy, …Felts not too far away etc. You can do the Saturday World Championship aka the Swamis ride. Jurgen’s been in town for a couple weeks and isnt in shape yet, The Aussies show up next week, Sunday run on the trails around the lagoon and Rancho Sante Fe, Breakfast at Pipes, a little body surfing(although the water is pretty cold right now, good luck to you guys doing Ralphs. Last year I had the ice cream headache immediately and the race was a month later!)
It’s the perfect winter getaway for the triathlete from Michigan!
