Racing Flats (6)

Anyone use racing shoes when ummm, racing? I saw some funky asics ones at a Local Tri store on sale and am curious if they are worth it? Probably better for shorter distance stuff? Sprints and Olympics? What are your takes?

Thanks
Brian

I use the Nike Streak XC for sprints and olys. I love those things.

I use racing flats up to HIM distance. For IM I use a lightweight trainer, like the asics DS trainer, for a little more support.

Thinking about using lighter shoes at IMFL this year. But yes I think racing shoes are the way to go, they are faster and feel better IMO.

Hmmmm… so do you think the asics racing tri shoe is a good one at $85, regular $170… Light as hell…

Also, if |I bought 'em tomorrow and raced on Saturday, would it be a bad idea? What about sockless in 'em? Are they better for going sockless than regular seemless shoes?

Is that the neon green one that was “designed” for triathlon? I’m sure it’s decent, but if you wanted a really light racing shoe I would check out racers that were designed for marathoners.

You’ll be able to find really light shoes for pretty cheap, just depends on how durable your feet are. Check these out:

Now thats a bit heavier than a true “racing flat” but at 8.8 oz you’ll get a ton of support and super quick shoes…only 85$ish too
