RaceRim Aero wheels

Just became aware of these. Built with Reynolds rims and RaceRim hubs. Anyone have any experience with these?

Something doesn’t quite add up.

How can this place sell a full wheelset with Reynolds Sixty Six rims for $900 when the rims alone from a place like Wheelbuilder cost $600 apiece? Even if they get the rims for $450 apiece and the hubs, spokes, nipples, and assembly labor are all free, they still wouldn’t make a profit.

I know, I was cruising Ebay for deals when I saw these on there

So I started to research a little as I had never heard of them before
.

.

I don’t understand how they can sell all of their carbon wheels for the same price… Anyone else smell a fish?

They’re not Reynolds wheels.

They’re the same chinese wheels you can get for $500 on ebay - just a direct lie when marketed.

The guy might not even realize wtf he’s talking about. A lot of these places advertise they their wheels come from the same factories as Zipp, Reynolds, insert big wheel name manufacturer here, etc. The guy is probably just going off of that information.

If you look up the “contact us” portion of his homepage it has his address. Google Maps shows that it’s a house in a suburban neighbourhood. Basically, this is some guy who is buying Chinese wheels, rebranding them and then re-selling them. Businesses like this are literally dime a dozen. There’s one here in Southern Ontario, and while they seem really nice I would probably just buy direct.

That was my suspicion as well.

I emailed them.

Hi Brian,

These are real Reynolds rims, we purchase them direct from Reynolds as an OEM builder. They carry Reynolds serial numbers and are covered by the full 2 year warranty. Please let me know if you have any other questions, also just to let you know, our sale ends on Dec 31st, and then our prices will go back up to $995. Thanks!!

Thank You,

Hmmmm! Bull shit?

see if they have the swirl-lip?

all of the newer 66, 32, and 46 rims have them… and i haven’t seen them on open mold wheels yet

These are the older Strike,Assault,Attack rims,no SLG.Reynolds did or does have a wheel builder program which someone can buy rims for building.

you sure it’s not spelt “Loller”?

Hello, I just came across this today, I am Sean with RaceRim. I just wanted to let you know that these are true Reynolds rims, as one person noted, these are the rims that Reynolds uses for their Assaults/Attack/ Strike, so no SLG but they do have their CTg brake tracks. Yes the pricing is good, and no I’m not making much profit, but this is a newer business and I’m just trying to get some wheels out their to start building up my reputation, which is why I am responding to this. I understand these may not be the wheels for everyone, but they are as advertised, and they are really nice wheels, CX Rays speak for themselves, and we offer a very solid RaceRim hub, and we offer two additional hub options, Alchemy and an OEM version of the White Industries T-11. One final note just to ensure I do not mislead anyone, These are not Reynolds wheels, They are RaceRim wheels which use a rim made by Reynolds, Sapim CX Ray spokes, and our own RaceRim hubs for the $995. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or concerns, thanks, Sean , racerim@ymail.com or 209-304-3007

I actually got a mixed set 66/81 about 6 months ago, so far very nice, light and fast feeling, and they are Reynolds, complete with the Cryo blue brake pads, I would buy again
.

I own two sets of Racerim wheels. A 50mm set and a 66mm set. I’ve had them both for over a year and have used them for both training rides and races. These wheels are strong, reliable and fast. About four weeks ago I did the Tour Of Battenkill with the 55’s and they held up with no problems. If these wheels can handle Battenkill they should be able to handle just about anything you put them though. I’d buy another set from them without hesitaion.
