I’ve been thinking about buying a used race wheel set on ebay, and while looking, realized I’m not entirely sure what I’m looking for. Admittedly, I don’t know as much about my bike as I should. I have a 2000 QR Kilo with the original wheels (650c). What should I look for in terms of compatibility? Thanks!
If possible, go tubular. Best buys/performance used in 650 consider the following:
Front: Hed Jet 60, Hed CX, Campagnolo Shamal, Specialized tri spoke
Rear: Hed Deep, any disc priced reasonable, Specialized tri poke
Thanks for the opinion. Just to clarify my question though, I was wondering if there is anything special about the hub and freewheel I have that I should be aware of, or is it sufficient to buy something that is “Shimano compatible”. Or for example, how would I know that this set would fit on my bike?

Thanks.
they should work. buy something your comfortable with purchasing. I’d look for a disc also.
They look ok from the picture, but unless you can hold them in your hand and look very carefully at them. They can look great in a picture, but you only see one side of them. If you can get him to send you some close ups of the rims and check to make sure that the lamenate (I am not sure if that is the technical term, need help here Tom D./Bunnyman/wheel geeks) is not peeling away. You usually don’t see those with clinchers, but it is a sign of a quick death of some carbon wheels. There are some other issues that aren’t as obvious unless you can take a good look at them.
It is a good price on the wheels, but I have this thing with actually holding something that expensive in my hands. Don’t get me wrong, Ebay rocks, but if you check around with some of the local bike shops, they usually have the inside track on stuff like that. You may want to talk to one of the mechanics if you can’t get anywhere with the people up front. I found a great pair of 700 404s for under $400 a fellow customer was trying to get rid of through one of the mechanics at my LBS.
Good luck.
As a side note, I did the spell check and Bunnyman comes out at Bemoaning. It made me laugh.
