Race Wheel Rim Strip-What do you use?

I’ve got a new pair of Zipp 404’s (clincher) that are going to Hawaii. Which rim strip do use use on your clinchers? The techs at ZIPP recommended something thin and light.

I think you’re asking for trouble going with a rim strip that’s too light/thin in order to save a couple of grams. I’d go with Velox. Punctures from poor quality rim strips are both annoying and tough to diagnose- and on race wheels this can only spell disaster.

I just bought a pair of 404 in clincher’s also, I had the bike skope throw some tires on so I am not sure what they did for tape? Anyways great choice for wheels…

Forget the rim strips altogether and go Tufo Tubular Clincher. Barring a tire system change, I’d go Velox rim strips.

Continental rim strips (actually a type of “scotch”) is both very lightweight and protecting - made for Supersonic tires and tubes (high prssure, ultra thin tubes).

For my money, velox is the only rim strip to use.
