Race Directors: Your experience with purchasing/building transition in/out signage?

I will host my third annual kids triathlon next spring and I am interested in providing awesome overhead run under / run through transition in/out signs. I have seen both inflatable and scaffolding style signs but am interested in all possible options. In some simple Google and message board searches I can’t find many manufacturers of these signs, but I have looked in to the couple I have found.

I am seeking answers for the following questions:

  1. What has been your experience using inflatable, scaffolding, or other style transition signs?
  2. Approximate cost of inflatable, scaffolding, or other style transition signs?
  3. Any creative transition in/out signage ideas?

I don’t know what your budget is, but my race is very small with a limited budget. I searched last year for what you are looking for in terms of inflatables… you’re looking at $2000+. If you want to get a banner, they are bit more manageable but you something to attach them to, maybe 2 big step ladders, trees if you’re lucky… You can always buy or make sandwich signs, cant run under them but at eye level for kids. You could put one on each side of entrance/exit and that would save you plenty. But my mindset is not geared to grandeur as I don’t have the money, I save mine for Heady Topper and pigs for a roast :wink: If you do, keep googleing… you’ll find someone to make you something for a cost. If you hire a timing company,they may have these things for you to choose from. Good luck.
