Race Day wheel choice

Need some definitive advice from the jedi masters on what to ride at Ironman Coz. I only own one set of race wheels and they are Planet X carbon tubulars and they are 82mm in the front and 101mm in the rear. If I don’t ride these then I guess I will ride my training wheelset which is the stock 30mm TTR wheel set that came with my Felt S22. I keep reading and hearing that is pretty deep for the island and even the pros will go fairly shallow with their wheel choice.

My concern is getting my ass kicked all over the road with crosswinds and if it is just not an advantage to ride my race wheels and go it on the training set. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ride the 82 mm front, buy a disc cover for the rear training wheel and ride that

Ride the sexy wheels unless you’re so worried about the crosswinds being sketchy that you will ride gingerly and back off on your power. I know you can handle the depth, but you have to know that you can handle them.

Coz doesn’t allow disc wheels… :frowning:

I’d say run what you have. If you are a bit sketched out borrow a 50 or 60 front. If you’ve been using them without issues up to this point you should be fine.

You’ll be fine with the 101 in the back (they don’t allow discs), the 82 up front might be sketchy. Back wheels are never the problem (used to train on a covered wheel all the time). If you can borrow a 50mm front wheel from someone, that would be ideal.

Here’s the bike from the femme pros:
