I’m racing a sprint duathlon this weekend- Weather forecast is mid 30s and possibly rainy. Does anybody have some ideas on race clothing?
Legs covered? long sleeve bike jersey? I’m thinking of maybe wearing a long sleeve during the first run to warm up, then taking it off for the bike so it’s not flapping around and slowing me down.
If I was signed up for an early-season duathlon and the forecast was mid 30’s and rain, I think I’d wear boxer shorts and a t-shirt and watch movies at home that day.
If I had to race I’d wear a hat, gloves, lycra tights and a long-sleeved lycra top. I would suffer, though. 40’s and raining is not that big a deal but 30’s and raining is about the worst weather if you ask me.
I have had lots of fun racing in bad weather. Duathlon is easier to dress for than triathlon in the cold at least you don’t have to try to dress while wet. At the minimum, I would wear a beenie, gloves, socks, a long sleeved shirt ( on the bike) possibly a wind/water resistant jacket or vest. Your knees will thank you if wear tights. You will want your warmest clothes on the bike. Your clothes should be something that wicks moisture, definitely no cotton. Gloves are quite important, your hands stick out in front on the aero-bars and transitions are tough with numb fingers.
