All the best,

What a great race - have a blast and best of luck. The adventure is about to begin and what a great team you have to enjoy it with…once again, best of luck.
Daved, I thought I was pretty good at packing it all into around life, but running a VC firm, 4 kids and doing RAAM…that’s just out of this world.
Good luck to you and your very studly team. Be safe and most importantly as anyone who has done the Team RAAM will say…be friends and don’t kill each other out there…lack of sleep, fatigue and stress are tough on the most closely knit units.
All the best…may there be lots of tailwind in your back!
Solos are gone. Literally and figuratively! Unreal. We are sharing the load and it is still scary!
Thanks for all the well wishes. RAAM is going to start here from now on, I believe.
We are prepping here and dont worry TRIGIRLPINK…there will be no crying! Possibly some moaning and grunting, but I think someone on slowtwitch said it best…
I think Slowman needs to throw in an all-star ST team to give you New England studs some competition…I nominate Bjorn-Rappstar-Jonas-Jonnyo with Monty starring as Directeur Sportif and Tom Demerly as tech support :-).
Ah… but they are my team mates! Exception to the rules! If they don’t come home bloody, raw and missing a front tooth or all but one toenail, they won’t think they suffered enough.
Great suggestion Dev (sarcastic)…
That is all we need, to go up against that allstar group, no thanks. Although I would like to ride with Bjorn…in all the tris I have done with him I never seem to be around him on the bike…
Team Vail Beaver Creek looks to be the main competition here, a bunch of ex-pro mnt bikers. I am hoping us triathletes can be competitive with mnt bikers in the road arena. I guess we will see.
Last ride today. Something totally cool about having a mechanic working on bikes, making em clean and fast and tight. A crew working non stop (and they are killing themselves for us) and the energy of something totally new (like first IM)…We are having a blast.
I know this thread is totally selfcentered so thanks for reading it thus far. Updates after this (or one or two more) will probably come through xtri and the race website. But I had to give ST some love too.
Pics are forthcoming and I may try to set some of that up tonight (tiny pic right?) and send along a few. We sent a ton to Vinu today. So keep an eye out for them.
Oh and trigirlpink is right…if we dont return like that, it would be like we didnt even do it.
Hey, if it like a military deployment, it is like you are the front line troops, with the mechanics and team support being your logistics and supply line. As Napoleon found out, your logistics team is the biggest key to victory. My understanding from talking to some RAAM dudes, is that one of the main ingredients of a well functioning team is a support crew that is well oiled, fed and rested (as much as humanly possible) given the scope of this deployment. Good luck…keep the supply line happy, and motivated and I am sure the legs will take care of your actual times. I’ll be watching your guys with keen interest…Team RAAM sounds like a totally cool concept. Will you have times when you have 2 riders on the road to split the work on really windy days/times?
Team Psycho
***June 15, 2007 - 05:36 — Perry Stone *** Team Psycho currently in second place in the 4 Man Division are averaging 21.77 mph are performing admirably, especially when you consider no one on the team has RAAM experience. They are all accomplished athletes in various disciplines and obviously fairly adept to stay close to Beaver-Catlin Team. Trailing Beaver Creek-Catlin Team by less than an hour they have a 3 TS lead over Team VMG Cycling and the rest of the field.
***The Beaver Creek guys are all from Colorado. The Team Psycho boys are all from sea level. This is going to get even more interesting as they come out of the mountains. I hope Beaver Creek is racing with mirrors attached to their sunglasses. ***
