And the K car. The K car was a piece of shit. My Dad owned two of them. Then bought a piece of shit voyager then a Neon which was also shit. He finally started buying Honda’s after that and hasn’t bought any other brand since then.

My dad bought exactly 1 Dodge, got rid of it after 2 years and swore he would never ever buy a Dodge again. He was crushed when Oldsmobile was put to pasture.
The K car was dirt cheap, that’s why my Dad liked it. But it was garbage.
TBH when he bought the Neon I loved it. I was 18 and it was fun to drive. At the same time my mom had a Civic SI. Life was good.
The Neon was a shit car though. So many issues.

I started driving with a 1978 Toyota Corolla, 2 door, orange, 4 speed on the floor, beast. The car was wrecked 3 times, twice by me and still kicked ass. Dad got rid of the car with 236K miles.

I had a 1986 Dodge Shelby Charger Turbo. Fun car. Almost as quick as a Ford Mustang GT of the time from a 2.2 litre turbocharged engine. Miss that car sometimes. Only Dodge car I ever owned, but owned a couple of mini vans.

Not in 81. Well yes, they were crap in 81, but less crap than anything put out by GM or Ford, and no one was really buying Honda and Toyotas until a few years later
Correlation… ?
The K car saved Chrysler, but in true Chrysler fashion, they kept it around too long and almost lost everything by the end of the 90s.

I remember when the K car came out, we all laughed then I got a ride in one and it wasn’t bad at all, still wouldn’t own one but it saved Chrysler and with out it we wouldn’t have the Viper. RIP Lee and thanks.
About the only place you can see a K car these days is old Red Green Show reruns. They made great prop cars.
