Has anyone purchased wheels from R&A Cycles? Their wheel prices are incredibly cheap, about 1/2 the price of anywhere else I have seen on pairs of wheels. I was just wondering if they are legit before I order a set of Corima 4 spokes from them.
Thanks, and if you want to take a look the web site is:
R&A is one of the more popular stores in NY. I actually got my HED aerobars from them. But they are a boutique shop. If you think their wheels are already cheap, you could probably find them cheaper elsewhere. They do specialize in exotics so finding corima 4-spokes from another vendor may not be as easy. They still have some of those HED3Ds which the owner obligingly showed me. If I sell my car and resolve to bike around town I may actually get around to getting me one!
Although I’ve not bought wheels from them, I have bought other things and they are a very legit bike shop. Like mentioned above, you usually can find things cheaper elsewhere.
Although not always cheap, phil at R&A is completely legit. His prices, are for the most part full MSRP. R&A is like Campbells soup (its in there!) If something is on the market, Phil for the most part has it, and before anyone else. Yes, other shops may give you a better deal on something, but then you have to wait until they get it in for you, which can take forever, Phil just goes into the back and brings it out (how many shops out there already have the Aegis P2 AND HED Aerolab bikes in stock?) It is a case of supply and demand, he R&A has the supply, for example, he has ALOT of HED 3d disks left, and they are all from a good batch that are true without the wobble… Want a Campy Ghibli disk? he has them too. When LAnce won his first Tour in 99 and everyone wanted a 5500 OCLV frame. the wait time was L-O-N-G, phil had them. Long story short, his prices are high, MSRP, but the good thing is if you want it, he has it, no wait, which at times is better then a good price. Another good point about Phil at R&A, he knows the industry dirt before almost everyone! I knew about HED and bicyclesports WAY before the postings on Bicyclesports website about their lack of selling HED. If you do go there, or call, ask for Tony, former Masters Nation Champion, he is a cool guy to deal with.
