Quick poll

doing my first tri of the year tomorrow. seriously thinking about shaving my legs (for the first time). should i? and, if i should… should i stop there?

My wife makes veiled threats about what would happen if I started. So I’m one of the hairy legs. I say do whatever you want, if it doesn’t gete you in trouble with the ‘ssignificant other.’

I have been told that it is not how fast you are but how fast you look. On the basis of this principle you should shave and you should not stop above your knees - go all the way.

I have also been told that you should not try new things on race day. On the basis of this principle → don’t do it.

In terms of being aero - according to Mike Burrows (the designer of Giant TCR) if you are very hairy shaving will make you faster. But if you are not hairy than some hairs helps to transport the air and have a marginal benefit.

What about you Mr Tibbs - do you shave your legs? How do you do it?

haha… no, i won’t get in trouble. i WILL get made fun of… but, i think i can handle her.

I’m not the guy to ask. I haven’t had hair on my legs since I was 18 (I’m 42). I think hairy legs on anyone is gross. To me, it is basic maintenance like shaving your face.

One thought though, if you do decide to shave your legs you have to do it at last every two days. The stuble is nasty. Also, don’t cut corners on a shaver. The better shavers leave less nicks and make your skin look better when the hair is gone.

When I was dating I found that most girls said they found it attractive. At least, that’s what they said…

do it. it means that you are confident in your masculinity. Hairy legs are gross, thats why long pants were invented. If you are going to show your legs, shave 'em.

Besides, the wife will love it. Guaranteed.

great responses… i think im gonna go for it. thanks all.

Yep - shave them furry things.
