So, is it 23 or 20 or 19 or what…oh, I’m referring to tubulars as well…
The width should be the same as the rim for the best aerodynamics. I think that’s a 21, but each company seems to use their own ruler so it may depend on the brand you prefer. A 21mm Veloflex lines up beautifully, as does a 21mm Conti. Haven’t checked Tufo as I’ve only used their tires for cyclocross, but think their road tubies are worth looking into.
It depends on which model year of rim you have. One of the huge advantages of the added depth of the new 808 is that you can run a wider tire w/o ruining the aerodynamics. The 404 suits a 21mm tire, but as the previous post mentions, all 21mm tires are not the same. I’d contact Zipp for a suggestion. Their own tire rides quite nice and is on par with a Veloflex in terms of construction, weight, and durability.

Hey Stephen I have just heard that some stamps are available only in Gib. They are about Lord Nelson. As a stamp collector - can you help me get a set? Credit card or paypal or what ever works for you. Thanks
I say 21mm TUFO’s with the flat-proof goo in them. Leave your spare at home!! Save 1/2 pound!
I have always been sceptical of that stuff but I put some Stans No Tubes into my mountain bike and I am a believer. Time for the road bike now, can I put the Tufo stuff into Conti Competition tubulars ? I just bought a new set.
Yes…no problem…just let me know what stamps you want…the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau is probably my biggest client…I do many stamp issue for them…the next Nelson related ones are the 200th Anniversary of Trafalgar…let me know…
They are ZIPP 404’s 2004 version by the way…hey Tom, I called you the other day at the shop…you weren’t in…just for some advice on these wheels…so, the fact they’re 2004 does that alter opinion???
