I’m ‘relaxing’ my fit for IMAZ. My fit is fairly aggressive and is uncomfortable after about 60 miles. I am reducing the drop by about 20-30mm - on a Felt B2 Pro frame with Bayonet II front end. My question is - what else should be modified. The stem change adds a bit to the reach and I was told that this is appropriate.
Should I consider moving my seat forward as well? Any other mods?
if anything you could move the seat rearward to maintain the exact same hip angle. Usually though, in a good aero position your hip angle is more acute than ideal anyway, so probably you don’t need to do anything. start with the raise up and see if the reach needs to be adjusted too.
Great Jack, thanks for your reply. I’ve give it a try this weekend on my fun 120mile ride and see how it works out. My seat is as far back as I can get, and the longer stem added a bit to the reach so I should be ok based on your input.
Definitely need a bit more comfort, even if it costs a little speed (I’m slow anyway).
Also - just one thing at a time, change it small (even your lifting your drop 2-3 cm is a lot, consider 1 cm at a time) ride enough to evaluate. Your discomfort might get solved and you’ll want to stop right there. Focus accurately on where the discomfort is coming from. If it’s upper back or back of shoulder consider - if you can- widening the arm pads a tiny bit as well to add relief to those areas.
Thanks! This is great advice - thus far I just reduced the drop and will go with that. My discomfort is my upper back / back of my neck. (Aside from my ass, which is just part of life).
