1.) Women run solo in the park all the time, but as with any major metropolitan area, we have our fair share of kooks. Rape and robbery etc. is fairly unusual in the Park but it does happen, so buyer beware. My solution: my wife runs with our pure bred Doberman, never had a problem.
2.) The Garmin is sketchy in the park as this is temperate rain forest and your signal will be obscured much of the time. Best to get a copy of the map of the park at either the Forestry Ctr. near the zoo, or at the Hoyt Arboretum office. It has mileages. Also, every 1/4 mile is marked along Wildwood Trail (all 31 miles), look at trees for marks in blue paint about 10’ up.
