Questions on Paint-carbon and Dye-leather

Here’s another, “does anyone know if:”

You can paint carbon using automotive spray paint? If I get a carbon seatpost with some ugly graphics, is there an effective way to paint it? Or will it just crack and peel?

Also, regarding saddles, is there any way to change the color? I know you can often re-dye leather, but how the heck does that work with “synthetic” leather? I’ve seen people with custom colored saddles, how does it work?

I feel so ignored and neglected.

I can comment on synthetic leather. it won’t work very well if at all. synthetic leather is either coated with plastic or the fibers are colored. don’t tell me you’re putting a synthetic saddle on this masterpiece you’re building or we’ll all lose respect for your critique of bike fashion. automotive spray paint is meant to stick to primer not clear coat but take it to a auto paint shop and see what they say, just don’t try to rattle-can spray it yourself. that always look like crap.

All triathlon saddles use synthetic leather. Real leather absorbs water too much and gets smelly.

I’d kinda figured that would probably be the story on paint, but I just wanted to be sure.
