Just read where tri clubs are getting advanced registration on IMLT14. I was also unable to get into IMCHOO this year due to the many preallocated slots to tri clubs. So, I have a couple of questions to figure out if this is a viable option for me to get into another Ironman event.
Is there a list of all the tri clubs that are offering advanced Ironman registrations? How do they allocate the slots they have among their members?Do these clubs accept members without restrictions (i.e. geographic) ?What are the typical fees for joining these clubs that have Ironman slots available? Are there extra fees by the clubs for taking the slots?
Only tri clubs local to the area of the race and the top-5 ranked tri clubs in each of Ironman’s four divisions (Div I the largest clubs and Div IV the smallest clubs) are offered slots. It’s not available to every tri club contrary to popular belief. So a few local clubs and 20 other clubs that sit atop the Ironman club rankings.
That’s up to each tri club how they want to allocate slots.
Odds are local tri clubs only want local members. Endurance Nation would be an exception to this as they’re not really a tri club in the true sense but WTC defines them as such and they’re ranked #1 in the Div I rankings.
Depends on the club.
That would be pretty scummy for a club to do that.
There are 5 divisions with Division V being the smallest…that is how my tri club is designated. Look at my profile pictures for our award from IM 70.3 Raleigh.

Thanks for clarifying. It may have been top-4 in the 5 divisions. I seem to recall 20 ranked clubs.
A news release on the IM club program doesn’t say anything about the early registration benefit. Unfortunately WTC got ahead of themselves and rolled out that feature with IMChooChoo before they did the appropriate publicity. As best I can tell they still haven’t completely explained the process and details.
The only information I read about tri clubs getting preferential treatment for IM registrations has been on this site. I’m surprised that it is not on an Ironman web site.
