Questions about CH Aero Cover installation

So I just got 2 CH Aero Covers from Wheelbuilder.com (great service, fast shipping, beautiful custom trimming for our wheels). One for me, one for my wife.

Do I need to loc-tite the plastic screws? I plan on removing the covers regularly (using the same wheel for training and racing)?

Is there a reason to use or not use the 3 metal screws that were supplied?

Once installed and tightened is your cover perfectly smooth. That is, when you spin the wheel is the surface of the disk even as the wheel rotates. Mine seemed to have a noticeable bump to it in one spot, but an hour later it appeared to be less noticeable, so maybe it is working itself out, or perhaps there is a technique to tightening the screws that prevents this. The drive side looks good. It’s just the non-drive that could be better.

If I can get the non-drive side to be real smooth I’ll be very pleased with the covers. Especially, since this is the only disk I could convince my wife to ride with, and she is going to kick ass and look good doing it.

The first time I put mine on I put the covers on the wrong side and it was not at all smooth. Once I figured out what an idiot I was and switched them they were very smooth.

You shouldn’t need loc-tite on the plastic screws. Don’t use a screwdriver to tighten them, use a nickel or you will strip them.

I’m pretty happy with mine, good luck.

Take care to ensure that the screws aren’t too tight in spots, or the cover will buckle.

I have all metal (aluminum) screws with mine. I use a dab of silicon locktight on the screws (not the Loctite brand red or blue stuff – it eats plastic).

You’re right about wheelbuilder, they have awesome service.

I just installed my cover this week. Looks great, and is tight (which I was amazed at since I could not see how it was going to work before I put the cover on).

I don’t plan to remove mine very often.

Be very careful when aligning the stem valve hole. I had to readjust mine to I could fit in my pump gauge.

I did not get 3 metal screws - are you thinking the silver aluminum ones? I would use the black ones that wheelbuilder sent you.
