Hi
I’ve been working on something called RaceToShine, a training/race preparation app for multisport endurance athletes.
The idea started from a pretty simple problem. Before races, i always felt that i had to remember to do a hundred small things to keep track of during race week. And yes, forgot helmet or passport when going to the airport. That was the reason I first built an app that gives a “race task”, mainly to help with race-week prep and execution, things like logistics, weather, and other practical details around the event.
Since then, it has slowly grown into something bigger. To solve problems I have had in my own races/training… partly then using also AI to give some more dynamic insights.
What I’m trying to build is a bit different from most sports apps. I’m not really trying to make another sports social platform, and I’m not that interested in adding endless graphs just for the sake of more analytics.
I’m more interested in building smaller, practical tools that feel genuinely useful for endurance athletes, things that most bigger platforms don’t have that much interest in doing..
A few examples of this as features the app now has
- a race nutrition planner where you can place nutrition items onto a race timeline or course plan and get a clearer picture of carb, sodium, and caffeine intake over time.. plan, analyse, print out.
- Performance tracking with benchmarking, test results or automatic at power, pace, or heart rate in a way that helps make threshold or zone changes easier to understand over the long term. “Cycling power change over 5 months in z1/z2 limit in 2nd hour.”
- simple things like carb-loading notes or race-prep support.. target carb /day, follow up as you go
So what i’m interested of, and kindly asking your thoughts. What is it that you are missing? When you do a race, what don’t you have (other than that missing 100 watts on the bike
)? So I’m mainly here to ask for honest feedback:
What do current training apps do poorly today or don’t give the tools & answers you are looking for?
Happy to share more of my thoughts & thinking. (The app itself is now available, but only for iOS. The site racetoshine.com has quite overarching info on the features if you want to dig deeper)
