.
This is like the thread the other day where someone asked, “how often do you true your wheels?” The answer is, “as needed.” If your brake pads are worn out and you need new ones, you replace them. It’s going to depend entirely on how much you ride, where you ride (you’ll be braking more if your routes are more technical than if you’re on the straight and flat all the time), etc. The brand of brake is irrelevant. A few brake manufacturers make their own pads, but most use pads from specialty brake pad manufacturers. I believe ZG uses SwissStop.
Jackmott don’t need no schtinking brakes. Braking is for wussies!
Let me clarify a bit , is replacing my brake pads every 2 months too often ? thanks
That’s a lot. Even with riding in rain, grit and lots of hills, that is a lot.
What are your riding conditions?
What pads and what rims are you using?
It is aluminum rims(shimano WH500) pads last time were campy. The riding conditions are great, lately i’ve tackle a lot more hills , and some technical descents , maybe that explains.
Thanks

braking HARD before the turn lets you go faster =)

Ah, yeah. I can get at least 1 season out of cross brakes, let alone on my Zero Gs. I run a combo of the Swiss Stop Yellows on my carbon rims and the reds for AL rims.
I run SwissStop Yellow Kings on my road bike when using carbon wheels (which is once the rain stops in Seattle, usually around mid-June) and some Kool Stop balck pads when I’m running alu clinchers in the rain. I typically get at least a season out of the SwissStops and change them when the side “slots” in the pads are gone. There’s also a wear line on the pads that tell you when you should replace the pads.
Those pads aren’t cheap, but they’re WAY cheaper than any trip to the ER! Brakes are not an area I look to save a buck or two. With respect to your brake pads, hen in doubt, them it out!
