Question for the podiatrists

About two weeks ago I experienced a bunch of symptoms which led me to believe that I had Plantar Fasciitis. I stopped running immediately, iced, stretched, etc. I made a doctors appt. for this Wednesday to get it checked out. The symptoms have gone away 95%, and I’m barely experiencing any discomfort. I ran on a treadmill for 20 mins on Sat. very easily and experienced very minor discomfort. My question is, is it worth going to the doctor to get it checked out anyway? Or is it safe to just continue stretching/icing and taking it easy for a few more weeks. My insurance company is very difficult to deal with, and I’d like to avoid falling further into debt with them.

Thanks a lot,

Jonathan

IANAP, but I had something similar almost 2 months ago. The rest, stretching, and golf-ball massage at my desk made it virtually go bye-bye. Some mornings it feels a tad tight, so I stretch and it’s gone. Running is no problem now. I say if it don’t hurt, and you can continue to slowly increase your mileage w/o pain, you don’t need no stinkin doctor. But if the pain continues or worsens, then you could try a chiro who does ART before a podiatrist. Lots of folks have had good success with ART for P.F. Might be cheaper?
