I’m gonna be there this weekend for the Waterfront Tri. Where should I go for some good eats? I’ll eat pretty much anything.
if you like Bar B Que try sticky fingers… theres one downtown and in East Brainerd
Well, well there are lots of great choices in town.
Check out my blog about “What to do in Chattanooga”

I would love it if there was a similar blog in all the race cities. ![]()

I was there this weekend checking out the bike course… 27 looks like a busy road…are they going to close it off to traffic?
ahhhh good call on Herbert, i forget about Tonys good stuff for sure, be sure you sit upstairs!!!
I am quite certain that one line will be “seperated” but there will be traffic on 27 surely. As for you being in town last weekend, did I meet you in front of Rivercity Bicycles? I was about to go on a road ride from there.

No it wasnt me… we came up to ride the new bike route but after driving it first soon realized there was no way of attempting it with all the traffic. The route remindes me of Powerman Alabama…lots of climbs
K…give me a call…we’ll have to meet up with Eric and everybody to get a bite to eat or something. Flat last week so you won’t have one at waterfront.
What kind of bike time you think you’ll pull Sunday? Also, this is my first olympic race swim…even though I have been training at 30+ miles on the bike and did a 2000 meter swim. I am a little worried about the swim. Do you have any tips for the long swim? Pacing myself, etc? How deep will the water be in Chattanooga? Appreciate it…

Just checked out your blog - very cool. Looks like a great town to be a cyclist/triathlete. Those rides in particular look awesome. I am left wondering why this place is not regularly listed as one of the triathlon meccas like Austin/Bend/Boulder, etc. How is the cost of living, commute, crime, etc?
You wont have any problem on the swim has a pretty fast current . Dont know what to expect for the bike on the new course. I loaded it in google earth 3d so if you want to check out the course elevation shoot me your email address and I will send it to you when I get home. I got the family coming in town for the race so I wont be able to make it to dinner but I will be rolling into chattanooga early sat so lunch is a possibility.
Looks like we might have rain this weekend…but prepare for the heat! last two years that Ive participated have been unreal.
Don’t count on the current being real fast. Lack of rain means the river has run slower than normal. I think it was a pretty slow current last year too.
Tony’s is a great place to eat. Go to Rembrants across the parking lot afterward for dessert or coffee. French pastries…mmmmmmm.
BTW, the race has sold out at 1200. Should be fun. They will have one lane of 27 coned off in each direction.
One place I’ve eaten a couple times driving through is Uncle Buds Catfish house. Ummmm, the “swamp bucket” is yummy. But I would wait until AFTER the race. And since it’s been a few years since I’ve been, it might not be open any more.
Cost of living is very low here compared to most any city of this size. Parking in most places downtown is still between 25 and 50 cents an hour and nice housing can be had in the range of $100,000 to $150,000, and for $300,000 plus you’ll get a very nice Mc mansion. ![]()
Crime rate is not too bad really.
Chattanooga has actually many nice outdoorsy offerings from hang gliding to kayaking to rock climbing. Plus of course great bike riding options and stunning trails to run and ride.
