Question about ON shoes

Better, worse, or about the same as Newtons?

Much better and very different. The On shoes does not apply the unnecessary pressure to your calves, achilles and arches. I am using both the cloudracer and the cloudsurfer. The racer is great for race day but lacks a lot of support for those daily runs. All in all a really good shoe.

I run in both ON Cloudsurfers and Newton Sir Isaacs - they are two very different shoes. I used my ONs for quicker runs since they’re pretty light and nimble, but have had durability issues with the pods. Haven’t logged that my miles in the Newton’s yet, but they certainly feel different to the ONs

I bought the Surfer and the Racers from ON. The Surfer was too clunky for me. The Racer was too light and zippy for everyday training.

I use Newton Motions as a race day shoe and training shoe as well.

You’re kind of comparing apples to oranges here with two different shoes aimed at two different styles with a bit of overlap.

The shop that I just started running with swears by them and are holding a pair of Cloudsurfers for me. I have never run in Newtons and I currently run in NB RC1400 for trainers and NB RC1600 for race flats. If the Cloudsurfers do well for me I will likely try the Cloudracers, too. I don’t have anything to offer here yet, but I’m interested in hearing what others have to say. There are several IM and XTERRA athletes listed on their site: https://www.on-running.com/en-us/athletes

Better, worse, or about the same as Newtons?

I train in Newton Gravity’s.

I tried the Cloud Runners this summer for about a month .Went back to the Newtons
.
The CR’s were too narrow for my foot and I didn’t think those rubber loopy deals offered as much forefoot cushioning as the Newton lugs

I have the On Surfers and Newton Isaacs. For me the Newtons are faster than the On’s, but the latter is more supportive. I have had zero problem with the pod durability…in fact, they are hardly showing any wear. The pods are made of a very hard rubber and have a tendency to slip on wet surfaces while my other running shoes do not.

If you’re not a “neutral” runner do not buy them. I over-pronate a bit and bought the racers thinking I’d be fine. I ran a half in them when I was in the midst of 26.2 training and my feet killed me for a week. Never had that type of pain before or since (they’re currently sitting in my closet).

For some reason, they made my Achilles ache more. Made it about two miles and could tell my Achilles was not liking the ON shoes. Quit using them, went back to my Zoots and all was good again
