Question about my tubulars

Looking for some insights. Imagine you had the following:

  • A Zipp 404, no tire mounted, but a good layer of continental glue remnants from a recently removed tire

  • A Vittoria Corsa KS tire, never been mounted

  • a tube of Vittoria Mastik One glue.

  • a race on Saturday.

  • a pair of Ksyriums with like new tires on them.

What would you do?

Start gluing! You have plenty of time.

yeah, assuming that it’s a good course for the 404 (and unless it’s a twisty go-kart track it probably is) I’d get to glueing. You only need the glue to set 24hrs…

Is there a problem mixing glues? I don’t have enough time to clean the old glue off.

Take a file to the wax/ latex of the Vittoria tire and sand it down. The tire will mount better without this on there (ie safer). This layer is the nastiness that is left behind when you dismount a tire. It just shows that the latex was adhered to the rim but the rubber tire was not :-0

Is the tire stretched?

You have plenty of time but do it correctly. IMO - One layer on the rim and tire - wait 24 hours. 2nd layer on the rim and then second layer on the tire - then it is go time. Wait 24 hours.
