Hi, in the new HED catalog there’s a picture of the lighter version of the HED integrated aerobar. It seems to have different hardwear and pads and weight savings of 140 grams over the usual one. Anyone have any experience with this model? Is it still as adjustable as the normal one? http://www.hedwheels.com/pdf/hed_broc.pdf
Also, a general question about the HED integrated aerobar: when comparing the basebar hand position to a normal Syntace Stratos zero drop base bar, is the position more forward or rear? I know there is no upturn like on the Syntace but I’m wondering about how far forward the hands are relative to the stem attachment! Thanks bunch, Jan
probably a little farther foward than a syntace with a bullhorn bars. But not much. The difference is that on the Hed bar you can’t pick where to place your hands as much. You find new locations but the grip area is smaller. This will freak you out a bit at first but once you get used to it going back to bullhorns seems like ancient rickety technology. I want from Syntace bullhorns to the HED bar and will never go back, although for the first week or two with the Hed bar I was pretty skeptical.
The lighter bar was supposed to come out concurrently with the original bar if I remember right. I’ve been meaning to machine mine down as well, just never have the time.
Yeah, I figured the flat bar would be something one has to get used to, but as long as the overall proportions are the same. Maybe I’ll try out the new light version later this summer, I bet it would look good on my Yaqui
