Question about creatine use

Hi all. I was thinking of taking creatine while training for a triathlon to maintain muscle mass. Do any of you know if there are negative effects resulting from creatine intake during this type of training. I guess I am a little concerned about cramping or dehydration but I thought I would see what all you experts think out there!

Creatine by iteself won’t increase muscle mass. If you feel you need to maintain mass, lift weights once a week (creatine may help you lift more weight over time, but in a maintenence mode I don’t think it will be very useful)
